>>Avs Lose On Third Period Hat Trick

(Pittsburgh, PA)  —  Patric Hornqvist scored three times in less than three minutes in the third period for the fastest hat trick in franchise history as the Penguins doubled up the Avalanche 6-3 in Pittsburgh.  Tyson Barrie [[ BARE-ee ]], Carl Soderberg and Matt Nieto [[ nee-ET-oh ]] scored in a 5:01 span in the second period to tie the game for Colorado, which saw its 11-game point streak come to an end.  It’s the Avs’ first regulation loss since November 9th.  They visit Florida tomorrow.

>>Nuggets Resume Road Trip Tonight In Orlando

(Orlando, FL)  —  The Nuggets resume their five-game road trip tonight in Orlando against the Magic.  Denver is 2-and-0 on the trek so far and has won six straight overall after Monday’s 106-103 victory in Toronto.  The Nuggets sit at 16-and-7 on the season.  The Magic are 12-and-12 following last night’s 105-90 win in Miami.

>>Broncos Prep For 49ers

(Englewood, CO)  —  The Broncos are back on the practice field today preparing for their road game on Sunday at the 49ers.  Denver has won three in-a-row after its 24-10 victory in Cincinnati this past Sunday.  The Broncos are 6-and-6 overall.  The Niners are just 2-and-10.  In roster news, the Broncos signed cornerback Jamar Taylor to add depth to the secondary with Chris Harris Jr. sidelined.

(Undated)  —  In local college basketball action, Colorado smashed South Dakota 82-58 for its fourth straight win.  The Buffaloes moved to 6-and-1 on the season.  The Buffs host UIC on Saturday.  Tonight, Colorado State entertains Arkansas, while Denver visits Air Force.
