Legislature May Impact Sports Betting

The future of sports betting in Colorado could be left up to the State Legislature. State Attorney General Cynthia Coffman said in a formal opinion yesterday that sports betting isn’t subject to state constitutional restrictions, but is prohibited under Colorado’s criminal code. Coffman believes that means it’s necessary for lawmakers to assess any changes. A recent U.S. Supreme Court decision struck down a federal law which prohibited states from authorizing sports betting.
