Hunter Cited For Samson Violation

A West Virginia man was arrested by Colorado Parks and Wildlife for illegal possession of wildlife and shooting across a highway. According to CPW Michael Hylton was charged with: hunting without permission on private land, illegal possession of 6×5 bull elk; and a Samson violation which could carry a $10,000 fine. “Samson” applies to trophy animals. The elk was killed on Saturday. The incident occurred in the Nate Creek area in the high country east of Ouray. The 49 year old Hylton was jailed on a $500 bond.
