Feds Watching San Juan County Utah Today

In southeastern Utah, today’s election will have federal oversight in San Juan County. The Department of Justice announced that members of its Civil Rights Division will be deployed to ensure the county holds to the new boundaries meant to undo racial gerrymandering against Native Americans. This comes after accusations that the county clerk’s office purposely ignored the court-ordered redistricting, giving hundreds-of-residents the incorrect ballots. State election officials and the New York Lobby group ACLU will also be in San Juan County today.
