Winds have pushed the Bull Draw Fire near Nucla north. The nearly 6,100 acre fire was caused by lightning and is now 35% contained. One full time residence and several cabins in the vicinity of the fire were evacuated but no other evacuation orders are in effect at this time. The BLM says Protecting property is a priority and resources are responding to prepare these structures with defensible space. A Type 2 incident management team will take over management of the fire today (8-6). Additional resources are being ordered. The fire is expected to remain active and grow due to weather conditions and fuel type. Fire managers ask members of the public to take care while driving in the general fire vicinity, as fire vehicles and equipment are present along narrow, rough and windy roads in the area.
