Utah Sues EPA Over Gold King

The state of Utah is seeking nearly two-billion-dollars from the EPA to pay for damage caused by a toxic waste spill from a Colorado gold mine.  The Utah Attorney General’s Office confirmed that they have filed a claim with the EPA seeking clean-up costs and other damages from the 2015 Gold King Mine spill.  The environmental agency admitted to being at fault when contractors cleaning up the mine breached a holding area.  The waste flowed downstream into the San Juan River and eventually into Lake Powell.
