Sewer Back Up Fee Ends January 1

The city of Montrose will remove a sewer back up fee from your utility statement. The Montrose Mirror is reporting the 25 cent fee was imposed 2 and 1/2 years ago to help people with expenses up to 2,500 dollars in the event of a sewer back up. The Mirror cited, the recent City Beat Newsletter where the city says it has enough money in their “Customer assistance Fund” to end the surcharge beginning January 1st. The Mirror also says eight claims totaling just over $3,900 has been paid out, leaving a current balance of nearly $52,000.
