Low Snow Pack Levels

The Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association says mountain snowpack is at 62 percent of normal in the Uncompahgre basin and 64 percent of normal in the Gunnison basin. UVWUA Manager Steve Anderson says to get caught up we would need 170 percent of normal going forward which is possible but unlikely. Anderson adds, this year users could experience a supply problem and municipal water users can contribute to conservation, however their use amount is between 22 and 26% of total demand for Colorado River water.  The impact of municipal conservation is helpful but not the whole answer as Agriculture is the largest user of water.
